Erwin Hymer Group UK Supports Highbridge Charity Challenge

Highbridge Caravan Centre - Charity Challenge

At 4am on the 4th November 2025, the Highbridge Caravan Centre team started their charity challenge. The goal was to travel from Lands End to John O’ Groats in less than 24hrs to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West. The forfeit if they didn’t do it? A cold plunge into Loch Ness!

The Team, made up by Jody, Ash, Kevin and James decided to take the scenic route. Adding 8 stops to the trip, stopping at both Highbridge dealerships and at every British manufacturer they retail. Including Erwin Hymer Group, home of Elddis, Buccaneer and Xplore!

Both Elddis and Highbridge Caravan Centre have just celebrated their milestone 60th Anniversaries and have enjoyed success together over the decades.

This 2025 LEJOG feat has historical significance, too. In 1981 Gordon, a respected and retired 50-year
veteran at Highbridge Caravans, in a team of 4 completed a similar feat, driving non-stop from Land's End to John O'Groats while towing a caravan. Pausing only briefly for fuel and essential needs, with extra fuel cans clattering in the boot of his Volvo, they successfully raised approximately £680 for St John Ambulance-a substantial amount at the time.

The Marketing Team followed the Highbridge teams’ progress all day, eager to support and most importantly ensure the team made it to the finish line they created goodie bags filled with all the necessary snacks to get the team from EHG UK to John O’ Groats in time! The snack bags included, Lucozade, crisps, Tunnock’s tea cakes, and most importantly a Northeast born delicacy – GREGGS!

Erwin Hymer Group UK proudly donated £1,054 to the Children’s Hospice Southwest – Highbridge’s chosen charity. £1 for every mile the Highbridge team travelled.

At around 6:30pm, the Highbridge Team arrived at the gates of Explorer House – in the pouring rain – and were welcomed by Rachel and Emma from the EHG UK Marketing Team. They were then taken inside of the factory to be greeted by the Leadership team.

The EHG UK Team were proud to present Jody, Ash, James and Kevin with the goodie bags of snacks and most importantly a cheque for the £1,054 donation.

After a quick stop at EHG UK, the Highbridge team departed for the final stretch of the challenge. A 7-hour journey to John O’ Groats. By this point the team had already been on the road for 15 hours but the end was insight, and they pushed on!

At 3:30am on the 5th November and with just 30 minutes left on the ticking clock - the team safely reached their end destination – John O’ Groats!
