About the role

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be defining, designing and implementing manufacturing solutions, including the use of automation (as required), for both new and existing product and processes, in line with product manufactured on site. You will ensure achievement of all key targets, enabling the manufacturing and pre-assembly teams to achieve significant improvements in operational excellence and associated KPIs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate new product development with design, quality, and production teams
  • Identify and implement manufacturing solutions to improve KPIs
  • Leading the creation and updates of Value Stream Maps for process improvement
  • Determine optimal workforce levels and implement standard work processes
  • Problem solving using analytical tools and integrating solutions into production
  • Drive manufacturing efficiency improvements throughout the product lifecycle
  • Maintain process documentation and support metric creation
  • Analyse waste, enhance value-added activities, and train operators
  • Improve machine safety, manage obsolescence, and refurbishment
  • Identify and apply new manufacturing technologies for process improvement
  • Analyse issues and implement effective problem-solving solutions
  • Maintain accurate process documentation in alignment with standards
  • Support metric creation and sustainability within manufacturing
  • Lead Lean projects alongside design, production, and quality teams
  • Manage budgets for both capital and revenue-related projects
  • Conduct data analysis to improve production equipment reliability
  • Provide technical support for equipment safety and compliance
  • To commit to working outside normal working hours (when required) to ensure commissioned project work is completed on time

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified to HND - HNC level or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering or similar discipline (as a Minimum)
  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems / robotics / latest technology and experience within implementation into manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing engineering techniques such as time and motion study, ergonomics, workflow design, factory layout design, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of primary Lean principles such as 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing technology such as FMEA, Design for Manufacture, etc.
  • Experience and use of analytical problem-solving techniques
  • Computer literate with knowledge and use of Microsoft packages and use of CAD systems
  • Have ability to work effectively under pressure and in a timely manner and prioritise tasks where needed
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of creativity and initiative
  • Self-starter with experience in a target and results driven environment

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Have ability to build up collaborative working relationships (external and internal)
