Solo travel. It’s not for everyone, but for those who embrace it, the experience can be life-changing.

Handing over the set of keys to a brand-new campervan opened up a whole new world to Francesca dal Bello – aka @Gr8Fool.

Freedom. Flexibility. Fun. They’re all words bandied around when we talk about gap years and van life. But what about Fear? Francesca will probably be the first to admit that overcoming obstacles (she’d never driven a campervan before – never mind lived on the road for a year!) and challenging stereotypes and sexism gave her the greatest satisfaction and created some of Life’s best experiences.

Leaving behind her long office-based life in London, Francesca was able to focus wholeheartedly on her new coaching business, whilst travelling Europe meeting old friends, new acquaintances and creating new opportunities. No more FOMO and plenty more Joining In!

Francesca’s travels included breakfast in London, lunch in Bruges and a rave in Amsterdam. But it wasn’t all 24hr party central. Her year on the road included 10 days at a Silence Retreat, the Scottish NC500, rediscovering her childhood memories of growing up in Italy, beach life in Greece and more R&R in Croatia – each day of #vanlife revealing new opportunities and fresh reasons to be thankful.

Francesca’s now in Kathmandu, fundraising for a school expansion in the Nepalese capital, but would she do it all again? Absolutely! And she’d encourage you to give it a go, too!
