Champagne to Caviar…
The Grey Gappers are back! And this time they’re headed on an even greater adventure, from the vineyards of Champagne, France to the Baku and shores of the Caspian Sea.
Back in 2016, David and Karen – aka The Grey Gappers – took a grown-up gap year and travelled extensively through Europe in the then newly-launched Elddis Encore 254.
This is Grey Gappers 2.0 – the couple’s epic adventure will be in the all-new Elddis Encore 250, with 160BHP Automatic transmission and enhanced further with optional extras such as solar panel, roll-out awning, bike rack, Hypnos mattress and added security. We’ve also fitted a Gaslow system for long-term travel... And they've just taken delivery of what will be their new home-on-wheels for the next year.
Having explored so much of Europe in 2016 and 2017, Karen and David are pushing their boundaries further in 2020 and have decided to go where few motorhomes have travelled.
Their outward journey will take in France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece – all well-trodden paths, until they arrive in Turkey. From Istanbul they will head through northern Turkey, into Georgia to their ultimate destination: Baku in Azerbaijan.
Their return leg will take in Armenia, more of Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany.
Just like their first Elddis roadtrip, Karen and David will detail all of their journey: the campsites, free aires and night-stops used; the best attractions to visit and the pitfalls to avoid!
The pair are full of great advice to share with fellow motorhomers, experienced or novice. Prior to their 2016 trip, the couple had never motorhomed before and had to learn everything from scratch. Now they are the go-to for others looking to set out on their own motorhome journey!
The Grey Gappers will be blogging every day of this epic 2020 adventure from their home base in Greenwich, London to the iconic Flame Towers of Baku.
