C2C - or Sea to Sea – is UK’s most popular challenge cycle route. The C2C, according to Sustrans, is often thought to stand for ‘Coast to Coast’, but the name is actually short for ‘Sea to Sea’!
The iconic route travels 137 miles between the Irish Sea and the North Sea, from Cumbria to Tyneside, passing through the northern Lake District before climbing the Pennines and descending to the railway paths of County Durham, then to the sandy beaches of Sunderland.
Non-stop, C2C takes just short of 12 hours for the average cyclist, but having our Elddis Autoquest CV meant that we could break the journey over the Bank Holiday weekend and really savour the scenery – making the whole experience much more enjoyable, if not easier on the legs!
Doing the C2C, with the assistance of our capable CV, made for a real family adventure and took the pressure off. Each night we enjoyed chill-out time in the beautiful countryside, with hot food and cold beers – after much-anticipated hot showers!
From dipping our rear cycle wheels – as is tradition – in the Irish Sea, to our front wheels in the Sunderland surf, what really made the C2C for us was our Elddis Autoquest CV!
