Position: Production Engineer   -   ABEL-BYAHFV

Number of Positions:

Main Purpose of the Job: 

Undertake project management of major engineering and construction projects –Particularly in the transition of CAD to machined parts. Liaise across various business professionals to deliver designs equipped for manufacturing and providing solutions to problems concerning the design and manufacturing processes.


  • Work closely with Design Technicians and Production team
  • Compile work method instructions (SOPs) - design new systems and processes for the introduction of new products and the improvement of existing ones
  • Implement production test procedures and methods for components and vehicles
  • Evaluate components for manufacturability
  • Evaluate and provide solutions to production process problems
  • Develop, install, procure and maintain equipment used in the manufacturing processes
  • Specify new tools/ machinery and processes, and help manage their implementation
  • Improve factory/machinery layout to achieve better material flows and process control
  • Design/ make jigs, tools, fixtures, templates
  • Identify major process improvement projects
  • Improve product routing in machining areas
  • Carryout data analysis
  • Keep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry,
  • at a national and international level
  • Keep manufacturing costs as low as possible without affecting the cost of quality
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes effecting all manufacturing processes

Qualifications: Engineering Degree or equivalent

Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience of working within a production engineer role – carrying out all traditional aspects. Experience of handling multi-projects
  • CAD systems (3D CAD)
  • Production engineering techniques and processes
  • Lean manufacturing techniqu

Normal Working Hours:

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs Hours 08:00 to 17:00 

Fri Hours 08:00 to 13:00 

The post holder would be required to work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
