Job Title: Buyer

Reporting To: Materials Management Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input, control and issue material purchase orders to fulfil necessary material requirements
  • Vendor scheduling ensuring materials are pro-actively expedited and delivered to meet scheduled order requirements
  • Administrative handling of material items
  • Ensure minimum material stock levels are maintained in order to prevent stock overage or obsolescence
  • Report on vendor performances
  • Ensure purchasing procedures and practices are continually maintained and improved upon
  • Analyse market trends and apply knowledge to help make decisions
  • Liaise with Purchasing Manager and Materials Management Team Leader regarding vendor problems
  • Organise and manage vendor account and related meetings
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new ones
  • Participate in cross functional teams across all departments
  • Answering general enquiries and completing office administration work
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed or required

Person Specification - Buyer 

Qualifications 

  • 5 GCSE’s Grade A-C/4-9 including Maths and English or equivalent
  • Desirable - CIPS qualified 

Knowledge & Experience 

  • Experience of working with IT software and systems (e.g. Word)
  • Desirable - Previous experience of working in busy office environment
  • Desirable - Previous experience in a purchasing role within a manufacturing environment
