The results of the eighteenth Caravan and Motorhome Club Motorhome Design Awards were announced at NEC Birmingham on Friday 24 February 2017.

The awards coincide with the week when it was announced that The Caravan Club had changed to become the Caravan and Motorhome Club, to reflect the changing leisure vehicle requirements of Club members.

Judging took place during the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show, where no less than 87 vehicles were scrutinised by the independent panel of nine judges.

Vehicles were assessed according to the following criteria, including: electrics and safety; comfort; kitchen; washrooms; heating and ventilation systems; technical and practical. And although the judges did not drive the vehicles, the scoring of the vehicles still evaluated driving elements such as seating positions, handbrake positions, visibility, passenger safety, comfort and driver ergonomics.

Grenville Chamberlain, Chairman of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, announced the results of the 2017 Awards. He said: “The Caravan and Motorhome Club extends its thanks to the Manufacturers who support this competition. 87 vehicles were evaluated by our panel of independent judges. Huge congratulations to the worth winners.”

Rachel Moncrieff, Marketing & Communications Manager for Elddis was at the ceremony and tells us: “To be presented with the award for best coachbuilt motorhome – in the most affordable price range – for the third year running is a great accolade and we’re quite rightly proud of our Elddis Autoquest range, and the 115 in particular.

“Our Retailer Special ranges account for a sizeable proportion of our sales and we are delighted that the Caravan and Motorhome Club recognise the importance of these ranges to the Industry as a whole.

“We are thrilled that our Retailers have scored a 1-2-3 win for Elddis in the 2-berth Dealer Special category, with Marquis scooping the title with our Elddis Majestic 175 collaboration.

“Our motorhome ranges, including these well-respected Dealer Special line-ups, are going from strength to strength, with demand, both in the show environment and on dealers’ forecourts, at an all-time high.”
