From Lightweight Luxury to Flagship Opulence - Further Caravan Magazine Awards for The Explorer Group’s 2017 Season ranges

Following the announcement that The Explorer Group Limited has won the title of ‘Tourer of the Year’ for our all-new Compass Casita 866 and ‘Best Innovation’ for our Elddis Avante 866 / Compass Casita 866 / Buccaneer Galera layout, news just in is that we have won yet more categories!

Best Lightweight Caravan for Couples – Xplore 554

‘The choice for couples looking for their ideal lightweight caravan is wide, but the standout winner is the Xplore 554.

‘As the popularity of the transverse island bed layout continues to accelerate, the Explorer Group introduces it, for 2017, into its brilliant lightweight, budget – and stylish – Xplore range.

‘This model’s MTPLM is only 1335kg. But the winner in this category wasn’t chosen on figures alone, of course. Scores are awarded for equipment, showering, kitchen efficiency and, also, styling – and this model scored exceptionally high in all sectors.

‘The interior of the Xplore range gets new colours 2017, with yellow, pale grey and charcoal in a bold roundel pattern on the cushions and the curtains, and calm, plain seating fabric units.

‘And the 554 gets an extra décor element that really adds a touch of luxury. The curtains in the bedroom hang on a chrome café-rod-style pole, the same style as that found in transverse-bed models higher up the Explorer Group’s portfolio.

‘Xplores have the 4kw Whale blown air and 8-litre Whale water heater’ - providing Grade III Thermal Insulation, so you can enjoy your new investment all year round, in comfort.

Best Caravan for Seasonal Siting – Buccaneer Commodore

Beating off competition from the new Lunar Alaria, Adria Alpina, Knaus StarClass and Hobby, the all-new Buccaneer Commodore won the 2017 Season award for Best Caravan for Seasonal Siting quite comfortably!

The judging panel favoured the all-new Buccaneer Commodore, with its unique and exclusive specification, saying: ‘You’d expect the winner of this award to be a big caravan; tourers bought to be used more like holiday apartments or static caravans need to offer plenty of space.

‘The Commodore is a generous 2.45m (eight feet) wide and has an overall length of just over eight metres. But, of course, there’s much more than spaciousness at stake in this sector.

‘The Commodore notched up consistently high marks throughout the scoring system, especially for its lovely big lounge and its sleeping arrangements.

‘The transverse bedroom, at the rear, is entirely separate from the day area, very static caravan in concept, with the shower and separate toilet area forward of the bedroom.

‘Buccaneer luxury is immense, with underfloor heating as part of the Alde system, a 40-litre water tank and an Aquasource connector to enable you to connect to the mains supply on your pitch. Buccaneers also have the Alde load monitor, which prevents you from exceeding your pitch’s electricity capacity.

Rachel Moncrieff, Marketing Manager at The Explorer Group Limited says: “We are over-the-moon to have won yet more awards for our latest 2017 Season models, with accolades for all four of our caravan brands.

“Caravan Magazine reviews a vast array of caravans and puts their shortlist through the most rigorous of tests. The judging team are all caravanners themselves, with a wealth of experience behind them.

“Our Xplore range continues to excel, providing a real alternative to buying used. Xplore caravans are built on the same production line as our flagship Buccaneer range, with industry-leading fully-bonded SoLiD Construction, backed by our 10 Year Water Ingress and Body Integrity Warranty.

“The new Xplore 554 completes the range, offering a beautiful, lightweight fixed-bed option weighing in at just 1335kgs MTPLM!

“At the other end of the spectrum, our opulent Buccaneer asserts itself as the most luxurious caravan in the UK.

“Buccaneer sales continue to soar, and, for as many Customers who like to tow and tour far and wide, we know that this range fits the bill equally well for those who like to pitch up and stay at their favourite site all season long.

“Buccaneer provides a cost-effective, flexible alternative to a static caravan – and this latest award mirrors our Customer feedback.”
