Lucky reader Douglas Philip is hitting the road after winning an Elddis caravan with The Scottish Sun. Douglas, 45, scooped his dream prize in the newspaper's recent competition with The Scottish Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show.

The sales assistant, who has never owned a caravan before, is now planning their inaugural holiday with wife Hazel and daughters Jessica, 12, and Grace, eight.

Douglas from Longside, Aberdeenshire, told The Scottish Sun: "This has been the best bit of news this year. We've always talked about having a caravan but we have never been able to afford it, so to win this Elddis caravan is the icing on the cake really!

"We are in the middle of selling our house so we hadn't made any plans to go on holiday - but we will now!

"I just entered the competition thinking 'go for it!' and the lads at work joked that I would never win. To be honest, when I got the call to say I'd won I thought it was a wind-up! So to win is something else!"

Elddis is delighted that the prize caravan has gone to such a lovely family who will enjoy many wonderful family holidays for years to come. Well done, Douglas!

Thank you to Dyce Caravans for looking after the Philips Family and their caravan handover.
