Position:

Multi-Skilled Technician (Mechanical bias)

 

Main Purpose of the job

Day to day and preventative mechanical maintenance throughout the site.

Responsibilities:

Working within the maintenance department you will be involved in a wide range of tasks, including but not restricted to:-

General maintenance of mechanical services

Machine maintenance

Fault finding on machinery, vehicles, services and equipment

Repairs and servicing of machinery and tools

Installation of machinery and associated services

Factory moves and layout alterations

Supervising/assisting external contractors where necessary

Assisting electrical technicians where necessary

Supervision, training & mentoring of Mechanical apprentices

Obtain quotes (at least 2) for any mechanical component & tools required to the task assigned to you.

Electric (& gas) welding and fabrication work for various materials

Brazing

Pipe fitting

Use of Lock-Off procedures

Sprinkler, fire hydrant and fire call point checks & records

Fill in machine/equipment breakdown and service records

Repairs and up-keep of factory buildings, floors, roofs and fences.

Labouring and cleaning tasks a where ever you are working

Use of mobile scissor lift units

Any other reasonable duties as required

Qualifications:           

Time served apprenticeship

Preference given to those who have the following qualifications or experience in:-

Pneumatic systems

Hydraulic system

Machine repair

Electrical work (multi-skilled)

Knowledge and Experience:

Competent fault finder

Competent in the use of computers

Attributes:

Must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team

Can use own initiative

Good time keeping & attendance record

Personal drive & motivation

Good communication & organisational skills

Normal Hours of work: 

Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm. Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm.

39 Hours per week. Single shift – moving towards a multi shift system

The post holder would be required to work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
