Main Purpose of the job |
To be the Board level primary strategic manager with regard to the company’s internal and external materials management, planning and logistics functions Establish short, medium and long term strategic materials management, planning and logistics plans and ensure that appropriate resources are made available to support the achievement of the requirements of our internal and external customers with regard to quality, responsiveness and costs Implement and maintain world class MRP processes integrated across the whole organisation To drive efficiency improvements throughout the materials management, planning and logistics across the whole business within agreed and demanding timescales Lead the company’s approved capacity improvement project alongside fellow team members and group personnel This critical leadership role will devote a significant amount of time to leadership, management and development of the departments’ staff |
Responsibilities: |
Elevate and then sustain the standard of the materials management, planning and logistics functions within both our suppliers and our own business Ensure that we optimise standards by developing robust and measurable business processes which ensure we provide excellent delivery to line processes which in turn support improvements in manufacturing and assembly methods Support the design & implementation of a “ whole facility blueprint ” for the future plant layout to realise our capacity growth targets To contribute to product bench-marking and market research as an integral member of our on-going product improvement and development team which ensures genuine product or component innovation throughout every design cycle Establish, monitor and analyse appropriate KPI’s Participate in Group initiatives and special projects as appropriate Involvement in 5S & Continuous Improvement initiatives Adhere to H&S Policy Adhere to Company Handbook Adhere to Quality Policy Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures Adhere to IT Policy Involvement in training requests |
Qualifications: |
Relevant university degree or comparable qualification Full UK driving licence Passport |
Knowledge and Experience: |
Experience in working in a lean, highly collaborative team environment Be able to demonstrate deep and broad experience over a minimum of 10 years at a senior level within material management, planning and logistics functions Demonstrable change management experience and of effectively managing a team Track record of building and leading an excellent team, rapidly scaling operations, and creating high quality, reliable and results based processes Ability to understand and manage a complex operation and alternate between operational and strategic tasks Working knowledge of lean concepts, tools, methodology or other comparable continuous improvement programs Strong hands-on mentality and organisational skills |

Normal Hours of work: |
Mon -Thurs 08:00 to 17:00 Fri 08:00 to 13:00 The post holder would be required to work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role. |
